Makerspace helps to prepare those who need the critical 21st century skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM). We provide hands on learning, help with critical thinking skills and even boost self-confidence and foster entrepreneurship. We deliver unique, hands-on learning experiences for children that are entertaining and educational. We provide specialty STEAM based classes and fun engaging enrichment activities for schools and home school groups.
Our program is based on STEAM and project-based learning is our delivery method. By integrating PBL and STEAM, we empower students to take ownership of their education. Students are presented with different challenges. These tasks are engaging, fun, inclusive and encourage kids to take risks. Kids can be Engineers, Scientists, Builders, Artist, Performers and Problem Solvers. The projects are from Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics category and cover common core standards. This program is for all students from kindergarten through secondary level. Students work in teams or can work on their own, select their preferred category (STEAM) and develop a solution to the Challenge. Depending on the Challenge, kids typically spend 2 to 4 months developing the solutions. The challenges are based on STEAM and students use Project Management approach to solve the challenges.

Spark your child’s imagination and curiosity!
Often students have difficulty seeing the math that is around them every day or they lack motivation for studying mathematics because they don't see the connection of it to everyday life. One way to help them is to show them the beauty of math found in nature and in everyday life. Another is to create hands on projects and solve mysteries to experience mathematical problems on their own. This program offers math activities for students of all ages and skill levels. These activities touch on K-8 mathematics standard and address many topics at the high school level.
Hands-on Math Activities:
- Connect math to real life and real student interests
- Encourage student autonomy and choice
- Break the “drill and kill” cycle by making learning fun
- Build math into project-based learning challenges
- Create opportunities for students to work in teams and discuss math
- Transform math principles from abstract concepts to physical models

I coached a 2016-17 DI team in the UAE. It was the first tournament hosted here thanks to Urooj and it was an excellent learning experience for all those who participated - coaches, appraisers, and the team members. My team thoroughly enjoyed the DI experience over a course of about 5 months. During the course of the project not only did they enhance their problem solving skills and learn to let out their creative abilities, but they also made fond memories of friendship with their teammates.

DI’s aged-focused activities and challenges instill creativity and learning skills in young minds. I have seen phenomenal increase in my son's ability to learn new things, ask questions and in many cases - even question the very validity of what has been shown or said to him. I have faith that programs like Destination Imagination play a critical role in child mental development which in long run shall enable him/her to be a successful student, a good professional and most of all - a good human being.

DI was one of the best homeschooling experiences we ever had. Not only did my daughter learn how to solve problems, gain critical thinking skills and STEM skills but she gained social skills, learned how to work as a team, the importance of preparation and self-motivation. Couple this with flexing those creative muscles and there is nothing else out there that compares to the experience of Destination Imagination with Urooj and team. The most important ending to it the experience is the confidence gained and friendships that will last forever. No doubt I would do this again.
